There are two testing methods for flexible circuit boards: needle bed test and flying needle test
Needle bed test: Traditional flexible circuit board tests mainly use a needle bed tester, which uses multiple probes to contact all the components on the board that need to be measured, and then through program control, the characteristics of these electronic components are measured in parallel. Usually, all components on the flexible circuit board are tested for about 1 minute, and the longer the testing time for circuit board components.
There are also some drawbacks to using a needle bed for flexible circuit testing: the small diameter of the probe is limited, and some parts that are too small in diameter are difficult to test with a needle bed tool. When the distance between test points is too small, the needle bed cannot be used and the needle cannot be implanted next to high parts.
Flying needle testing: Flying needle testers have obvious advantages in large-scale circuit board testing. Firstly, flying needle testing is a very cost-effective testing method that does not require the cost of treatment equipment. In addition, due to the fact that circuit alignment does not require alignment holes or fixed devices, smaller solder pads can be tested, which is superior to needle beds in terms of testing accuracy and coverage. In addition, the program debugging and configuration of the flying needle tester is very convenient, and it can also test circuits with charged resistance cores.
FPC flexible circuit boards have the characteristics of lightweight and flexible, which makes their market share in smartphones increasingly high. During the production process of FPC, such as processing, feeding, and installation, flexible circuit boards may have defects such as open circuits, short circuits, and inconsistent line widths. Testing flexible circuit boards is crucial.
